Bagail does not sell a bag called an underseat bag. It sells a 16.8 x 11 x 7 inch Travel Laptop Backpack that clears most personal item boxes and a 21 inch duffel its own listing calls a personal item while publishing it over the limit on all three sides.

The verdict

  1. The Bagail bag that actually works as a personal item is the Travel Laptop Backpack. Bagail publishes it at 42.52818cm (16.8117 inch) and 0.75 Kg (1.65 lb), which clears the published under-seat box at American, JetBlue and Frontier outright. You can check the current Bagail travel bag range and prices before deciding between it and the duffel.
  2. The Travel Duffel Bag is not a personal item, whatever the bullet points say. Bagail lists it at 21'' x 14.1'' x 8.7'' and then advises readers not to overpack it "to meet 18x14x8 Personal item limit". At the published size it is already over that box on all three sides, empty.
  3. Do not buy either for the warranty. The product pages carry a 6-Month Warranty badge and a One Year Worry-Free Warranty line in the footer, and the page titled Warranty Guarantee sets out no warranty terms at all.

Bagail does not sell a bag called an "underseat bag"

This is worth saying plainly, because a lot of shopping guides imply otherwise. Reading bagail.com's own product sitemap on 22 September 2026 returns 85 products, the large majority of them packing cubes, vacuum bags and household goods. There is no product in the catalogue named or marketed as an under-seat bag.

What Bagail does sell, in the personal-item shape, are two things: the Travel Laptop Backpack, Carry on with USB Port and the Travel Duffel Bag / Weekender. Those are the two bags this review covers, because those are the two a traveler would actually try to slide under a seat.

The Travel Laptop Backpack: the one that fits

Bagail's listing gives one dimension line — "Dimensions 42.52818cm (16.8117 inch), Light Weight 0.75 Kg (1.65 lb)" — plus three main compartments and ten inner and side pockets, a laptop sleeve rated for a 15.6 inch laptop and a 12.9 iPad, a USB pass-through port, and a 180 degree zipper opening. It was $35.99 on the day.

Bagail does not say whether that 7-inch depth is measured with the shoulder straps flattened. That is not a pedantic complaint. Frontier's bag page states its personal item allowance as "18in by 14in by 8in and up to 35lb including handles, wheels and straps" — straps named explicitly. A backpack measured at the panel and a backpack measured across a padded strap are not the same object, and no soft-bag brand we read publishes both figures. The general problem is the subject of our piece on why listed and overall dimensions diverge.

Run the published figures against the published boxes:

American publishes a personal item at 18 x 14 x 8 inches. The backpack is inside on all three sides. JetBlue publishes 17" L x 13" W x 8" H; inside on all three. Frontier publishes 18in by 14in by 8in and up to 35lb including handles, wheels and straps; inside on all three, and 1.65 lb is nowhere near the weight ceiling.

United is the exception. Its personal item box is 9 in x 10 in x 17 in, and United tells travelers to include the handle and wheels when measuring. The Bagail backpack's 11-inch dimension is over United's 10-inch limit. Under the seat it will very often go unchallenged, because the bag is soft and compresses; against the published rule, it does not comply. United's box is the narrowest published by any major US carrier, and a bag that clears American and JetBlue by a wide margin can still be the wrong shape for it. Our United personal item guide explains how tight that box really is, and why the width dimension is the one that catches soft bags.

Delta's carry-on page publishes no personal-item dimensions at all, and Southwest's policy article likewise gives a personal item only as an item that "Goes under the seat in front of you", with examples rather than a box. Where there is no published number, there is nothing to comply with — and nothing to appeal to if a gate agent decides otherwise.

The Travel Duffel: a carry-on the listing calls a personal item

Bagail lists the weekender at "(LHW) 21"x 14.1"x8.7"/ 53.3x36x22 cm" and 1.8lb, with six internal and two external pockets and a trolley sleeve. It was $49.99 on the day, reduced from $69.99.

The same bullet says the bag "is airplane-friendly and meets airline carry-on size restrictions", then adds: "TIPS: Do not overpack to meet 18x14x8 Personal item limit, otherwise it may exceeds."

Take that literally. At the size Bagail publishes, the duffel is already outside the 18 x 14 x 8 box on every axis before anything goes in it. Against United's 9 in x 10 in x 17 in it is over on two of three. Against JetBlue's 17 x 13 x 8 it is over on all three. Against American's 18 x 14 x 8 it is over on all three. There is no carrier we checked whose published personal-item allowance this bag fits empty.

As a carry-on it is a different story: 21 inches long and 14.1 wide sits inside Southwest's 24 x 16 x 10 and Frontier's 24 x 16 x 10, and it is under American's, Delta's and JetBlue's 22-inch length while being 0.1 inches over their 14-inch width. Put your own routes through the carry-on sizer tool and check against our verified table of airline limits.

The warranty is three different promises

This is the weakest part of the proposition, and it is worth being specific rather than vague.

On the Travel Laptop Backpack page, a badge under the add-to-cart button reads "6-Month Warranty". Scroll to the footer of the same page and a block headed "Longtime Warranty" reads "One Year Worry-Free Warranty". Follow the site's own "Warranty Guarantee" link and the page that loads is a customer-service FAQ — how to register, how to place an order, how to track a package, how to get a refund — with no warranty period, no list of covered failures and no exclusions anywhere on it.

Compare that with what a brand at this end of the market can do. LEVEL8's warranty page states that it covers "any functional damage to the shell, wheels, handles, zippers" and then names its exclusions explicitly. You can disagree with those exclusions; you cannot say you were not told. Bagail's pages do not reach that bar. Budget accordingly: at $35.99, treat the backpack as a consumable rather than a bag you will still be carrying in five years.

Who should buy which

Buy the Travel Laptop Backpack if you fly American, JetBlue or Frontier in a basic fare and need one bag under the seat. At 1.65 lb empty it costs you almost nothing in allowance, and it is the lightest of the two by a wide margin. For alternatives in the same shape, see our underseat personal item backpack review and the Frontier personal item guide, and browse current personal item bag listings or current cabin backpack listings if you want to compare published depths across brands.

Buy the Travel Duffel only as a carry-on, and only on carriers with a 24-inch allowance. If you are choosing between a wheeled bag and a soft one for a week away, our carry-on suitcase versus travel backpack comparison sets out the trade-off, and our piece on what fits free on Frontier since Spirit shut down covers the budget-carrier case specifically.

FAQ

Does the Bagail backpack fit under an airplane seat?

Against published limits it fits at American, JetBlue and Frontier, all of which allow at least 18 x 14 x 8 inches or 17 x 13 x 8 inches for a personal item. It does not comply with United's published 9 x 10 x 17 inch box, because Bagail lists the bag at 11 inches across. Figures read from both companies' own pages in September 2026.

How big is the Bagail travel duffel bag?

Bagail publishes it as 21'' x 14.1'' x 8.7'', or 53.3 x 36 x 22 cm, and 1.8lb empty, as listed in September 2026. The brand does not say whether that figure includes the handles.

What warranty does Bagail offer?

The answer depends on which part of the page you read. The product page shows a 6-Month Warranty badge; the footer of the same page says One Year Worry-Free Warranty; and the page the site itself links as Warranty Guarantee contains no warranty terms. There is no published list of what is covered or excluded.

Is Bagail a good brand for travel bags?

For packing cubes and organizers it is one of the better-known budget names, and that is the bulk of the catalogue. For bags, the value is real at the price and the documentation is not: single unlabelled dimension lines, no statement about whether straps are included, and three different warranty claims on one page.
